Waterfall, Scum, and Agile: Oh my!

Speakers:

Waterfall, Scum, and Agile: Oh my! Using just the Good Parts of Project Management

As Drupal expands into multiple industries, Drupalistas are bound to begin to encounter clients that are uncomfortable with Agile concepts and frameworks.

This session will cover ways to introduce the "Agile way of thinking" to even the most skeptical clients, whether they be external clients, internal colleagues, or even one's own family!

The session will include examples and exercises that can be used to illustrate things like:

  • Process improvements gained through agile methodologies
  • The benefits of thinking in iterations
  • How to explain iterations collectively as "the big picture" that your clients are looking for
  • Some general frameworks of agile: sprints, artifacts, and roles
  • Some tools and tricks from waterfall that are still useful in the agile world
  • How to provide the "old-school" information that some clients are comfortable with (EV, CPI, and SPI, anyone?) and how to discard the rest!

With a combination of exercises, group engagement, and knowledge transfer, this session will prepare attendees to have fun with their teams while creating processes that benefit the client, build relationships inside and out, and lead to a stronger, more versatile organization.
