Using Drupal to Turn Complex Data into Simple, Useable Reports

Speakers:

Do you have a body of complex data that needs to be simplified so your target audience can understand it? Drupal is a great option to do this. Learn how we used Drupal to aggregate data from the World Wildlife Fund and turn it into practical reports that are easily accessible via an attractive web platform.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has a large collection of data based on risk factors that affect production of the world's commodities. WWF's clients need this information in an easy-to-understand format so they can make appropriate business decisions about inputs for their products (coffee, cotton for T-shirts, etc.). The end result is simple, useful reports that their clients can access via the web. The impact is enormous: Some of the world's largest companies make sourcing decisions that dramatically impact the environmental and socio-economic situations in vulnerable locations around the world.

Topics will include:

  • Enabling dispersed teams to collaborate in multiple languages with various access levels
  • Customizing Drupal to fit established workflows
  • Integrating Drupal with other web technology to provide maps, charts, and PDF exports
  • Migrating legacy systems to Drupal (e.g., Microsoft Access)
