Traditionally to create a sub theme, a themer would have to spend hours copying and changing templates, adding css, adding assets and then begin thumbing and making customizations. Spending this amount of time to create a single sub-theme might be acceptable, but when it has to be done multiple times it becomes repetitive and costly. This was an issue Genuine faced when building a unified Drupal platform for a multi-brand, consumer packaged goods company. The developers at Genuine implemented a quick two step Grunt and Sass based solution that allowed each branded site to quickly create, customize and maintain a standardized, responsive and device agnostic sub-themes that inherit changes from the base theme.
