Responsive Development in Drupal

As the mobile web continues to grow at a rapid pace, and more and more devices are being released, we need to make sure that our websites always deliver a great user experience no matter what screen size is being used. Staying up to date with the latest techniques can often be challenging or frustrating, so lets review some best practices that will get us all on the same page and moving the mobile web forward.

Responsive Development is all about the front end side of “Responsive Design”. While that term has been thrown around quite a bit over the past few years, it doesn’t do enough to separate the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in the responsive process. We’ll take a look at some of the tools and processes we have available to us in order to build a truly optimized experience for all devices, and hopefully answer some of your questions and concerns along the way. On top of all this, we’ll cover the best practices and techniques that we use for Drupal specific projects - this is DrupalCon after all!

Questions addressed in this presentation:

What techniques I should be using to make my website mobile friendly?

What does a responsive workflow look like on a Drupal project?

How can I use media queries and SASS/Compass?

What are some Compass extensions I should be using?

How can I inspect an Android device?

How can I inspect an iOS device?
