From the Garage Days to Software as a Service: Drupal at Stanford

Speakers:

A few years ago (or two generations, in Internet time) Drupal was a fringe software product that a few Stanford techologists dabbled in as a side project.

Now, in 2014, Drupal powers some of the largest websites at Stanford, as well as thousands of smaller sites.

Through the presentation of several case studies, I will detail the ways that we use Drupal as a lever to maximize the value of the work that we do at Stanford.

Questions addressed include:

  • What is Stanford trying to accomplish via the Web?
  • Why Open Source?
  • Why Drupal?
  • How do we build community?
  • How do we build technical expertise?
  • Can you get my kid into Stanford?
