Drupal 8's Page Model

Speakers:

Lots of things have changed in Drupal 8. One of the most crucial areas is the page model - the way that Drupal conceives of, organizes, and constructs the different portions of its HTML output. The page model is one of Drupal's most important underlying concepts - the basic difference between Panels and Context amounts to a different way of conceiving of the page.

Drupal 8 is introducing a new model for the page - one that is a little more structured. The hope is the added structure will allow Drupal to scale better into complex situations, while still handling simple situations gracefully. We haven't met all of our goals in this regard, but we've met some.

In this talk, I'll explain the page model in Drupal 7 and Drupal 8, and talk a bit about the future of things like Panels and Context.
