Distributions have been an important step forward for Drupal. Using installation profiles and drush make files, we can now create reusable applications and products with ever greater efficiency. An emerging set of tools, venders and best practices around distributions are expanding the possibilities for the deployment of applications built on Drupal.

New Amsterdam Ideas leads the development of two popular Drupal distributions: the open data portal DKAN and OpenCivic, an app catalog and hackathon/community support site. Drawing on this experience, in this session we will discuss:

- Best practices for developing distributions concurrently with specific client projects
- Incorporating tests into your distro development
- Offering your distribution for immediate via leading Drupal hosts Pantheon and Aquia, and maintaining your distribution on those platforms
- Deploying distros outside the Drupal bubble: engaging with AWS Marketplace and the Windows Azure App Gallery
