A DevOps Primer: Culture and Practices

Speakers:

Let’s be honest, when you hear the DevOps buzzword these days, it is often easier to focus on the technical side of DevOps than it is the cultural aspects. Who doesn’t love digging into the latest cool tools and technologies being brought forth to make the lives of developers and sysadmins better. At Promet Source we are self-admitted everyday users and vocal advocates of Vagrant, Chef, and many of the other gadgets in our DevOps toolbox. But the tools are not why we sought out a better way with DevOps.

In this session, we’ll share insights from our unique perspective as a company who:

- Has embraced DevOps principles as part of our everyday company culture
- Runs dedicated Support and DevOps teams 24x7
- Has helped organize and participate in the broader DevOps community outside of Drupal
- Has spun off a boutique DevOps consultancy catering to the high tech firms in Silicon Valley

In addition, we’ll be sharing results from our surveys of a number of companies and organizations, including other consulting firms, using Drupal in some way, shape, or form and their current state of DevOps practices. Of course we’ll share with you about the tools they use, but more importantly we’ll talk about the cultural changes needed to “automate all the things.”

Whether you are completely new to DevOps or looking to take some further steps down the path, this session will help you understand the principles and practices that help you accelerate your DevOps culture.
