Decoupling Content Management from Data Management & Visual Analytics

Speakers:

The objective of the session is to demonstrate how one could enable Drupal site owners leverage powerful tools to explore unstructured and structured data, uncover and visualize patterns and further leverage rules to create adaptive and contextually relevant experiences, by decoupling Data Engineering & Visual Analytics techniques and approaches from the Drupal CMS.

Drupal has proven itself as a compelling platform to create, curate, manage and disseminate conversations and content in various formats. Today, many organizations leverage the platform to store thousands of documents ranging from postscript files and spreadsheets to presentations and more. And, with this the need to make sense of all this data is creating new problem statements that demand far more complex operations to be performed. In this context, decoupled content management strategies can help architect solutions beyond enabling multi channel content authoring, as is the most popular use case today.

While Drupal leverages built-in RDF support to incorporate structured data within the CMS and has several contributed modules for additional complex RDF or Microdata applications, there is a growing need to make sense of a vast amount of unstructured data, where the only information one would have about this data is contained in the data itself. And, this data is available all across ranging from social conversations, articles and numerous uploaded documents. Grammar, semantics, context, keyword density and all become significant data points to make sense of it all.

Key Possibilities that will discussed:
How Data engineering can help identify affinity circles in groups, key influencers in conversations, sentiment analysis in discussions, trending topics, social network analysis, opinion mining, leveraging rules to enable adaptive content delivery, visualizations and more.

The session will cover topic areas such as Natural Language Processing, RDF, Visualization techniques and approaches, JS Frameworks ranging fro D3 to Express, NoSQL and apart from compatible solutions that can be deployed and integrated as a decoupled solution stack extending the power of Drupal.
