More and more students are using mobile devices without Flash support. Flash has been the dominant technology for rich e-learning content and our customer ndla.no has had a lot of Flash content.

They hired us to come up with the solution to all their Flash problems:

1. We want to get rid of all our flash content and replace it with mobile friendly HTML5 content
2. We want vendors to be able to send us rich content as files the same way they did with Flash, and we want to be able to publish it just as easily
3. We don't want to contact the content vendor just to add a comma or replace an image in the rich content they deliver, we want to be able to make those changes ourselves in Drupal
4. We need an effective way to manage all our rich content. Often we have multiple instances of the same type of rich content, for instance multiple hangmans. We want to be able to update all hangman content simultaneously
5. We want to make it easy for the rest of the world to reuse the content we buy and create, including finding a great way to handle licensing
6. We're on Drupal 6. We don't want to pay a lot to have the software upgraded to Drupal 7 or 8
7. We want to be able to clone the content created by vendors ourselves and adapt it to new subjects using just Drupal and a web-browser

Obviously the above list of demands was irresistible for a team of 4 with 28 years of combined experience with rich Internet content and drupal. We took the job, and the client (and many others) seems to be excited about our solution - H5P. H5P has the potential of liberating rich content, making it a lot easier to reuse rich content between professional content creators, companies and countries with different languages. It is also a powerful authoring tool for rich content.

In this session you will learn how to do a solid preliminary study and solidly document your findings and recommendations. You will also learn about our experiences with a pioneering project. We probably got a lot of things right but we also made a couple of regretful mistakes. And finally you will learn about H5P, a project with huge potential for creating richer online experiences.
