If you build it, they will come. Maybe. People come together for a purpose. Even if you have an amazing website, with the latest and greatest bells and whistles, there is no guarantee that people will flock to your site. Even if you get someone there, will they come back? And how often?

This session will outline several strategies that you can use to start building an online community using techniques from the open source world. Using two Red Hat communities, Opensource.com and The Enterprisers Project, we will explore:

• Drupal modules that are necessary for community building
• Marketing techniques to attract people to your site
• Gamification strategies to keep people coming back
• Content strategy to raise awareness
• Using feedback to make incremental improvements
