We, at Princess, recently launched a new digital onboard passenger experience with our newest vessel, Royal Princess. Having launched in June, Princess@Sea (Drupal) is successfully serving up web pages, digital signage, supporting video on demand, feeding a kiosk and an art and architecture tour. We attribute the success of this project primarily to our altering the developer attitude from a traditional IT support team within a corporation to a vendor-like relationship with our business units. We’d like to share our experiences and challenges from a developers perspective about how Drupal enabled us to deliver a state of the art, industry-first digital experience platform. This session will not be a technical "deep dive", but rather will touch upon a variety of areas from management to technology.
We'll cover:
- Challenges in defining the project.
- Issues in working with other internal teams, vendors and project sponsors.
- Deploying to and operating on the ship environment.
- How and what Drupal drives in our passenger digital experience.
