Drupal 8 is coming! But what decisions can you make now on your current or new Drupal 7 sites to make transitioning to Drupal 8 easier? Dave will cover new features available in Drupal 8, and how you can use those new features now in Drupal 7.
- What field modules can I use that work the same as Drupal 8?
- What WYSIWYG editor should I use?
- How can I start preparing to migrate my existing Drupal site to Drupal 8?
- What kinds of modules can I use so I don't have to retrain my editors and administrators when we move to Drupal 8?
I'll also cover some basic concepts for those of you writing Drupal 7 modules that you can do right now to better prepare yourself for writing modules in Drupal 8.

Great talk Dave really shows
Great talk Dave really shows how amazing Drupal can stay even once 8 is released!
Link for notes?
Hi Dave,
That was a VERY helpful session. Unfortunately my note-taking app crashed and did not save my notes!
Can you please let me know the link for slides? Thanks!

Thanks, I was just about to post this. I made sure I pushed the updates from the presentation today to the URL so it is fully up to date.
Installation profile
Hey!
Thanks for the presentation, (I am unfortunately not attending, but watching the recording)
How about a Drupal 7 installation profile with all these modules?
Or does this exist already?
It would be ideal for people getting ready for D8 with D7.
See you in Amsterdam

Date Storage Types
Hi Dave,
Some confusion... Your notes say to "Use the Date (ISO format) field type," but in the QA section of your talk you reluctantly say to use the "Datetime" option. Can you clarify which storage format is best to use for future-proofing?
Great talk - thank you!
Wasn't 100% sure
I wasn't 100% sure when put on the spot in the QA section, so I said I'd check for sure and post it on Twitter. The Date (ISO format) field type is in fact the one to use, and I've even clarified so in my presentation on the Date module slide.
Thank you!
Thank you!
